The Falmouth 24hr Comic

10.30 am Tuesday 24th of November - 10.30am Wednesday 25th of November

The Poly, Falmouth

On the 24th of November a group of artists, illustrators and photographers will be challenging their creativity and stamina. With no preparation and very little sleep, they will have just 24 hours to complete 24 pages of illustrated narrative inspired by a local story

The event is open to the public to see the artists working and view the pages as they are completed. There is even opportunity to challenge yourself to create a timed comic.

The Falmouth 24hr Comic is funded by FEAST, a new programme to make great art happen in Cornish villages and towns. Their main focus is to bring communites together to take part in creative activities.

The results will be displayed at The Poly until Saturday the 28th on November.

There will be a follow up exhibition at The Soup Galley, Truro in December.

The artists are all going strong. Hopefully. Nobody has broken yet. Had an exciting visit from the West Briton and Falmouth Navigator publications. Photographs were taken, quips noted down. It was like The Cook Report, yet less intimidating. Here is my attempt at reporting the reporters, Ben Perks and Bryonny from Falmouth Navigator:

I have perportrated the first community contribution. A small visual description of my first couple of hours. It is as thus:

The second public contribution was from local Postman and all round nice guy Scott James, who sadly had not the time to do any more than his title page, but it sure looks like a winner to me:

I can't wait. Here he his in the moment:

Of course, the comfort of daylight still hangs above us, and the true stresses of the challenge have yet to sink in. The participants are remaining quiet and concentrated:

Rob Fresson is working at a Dutch angle on his board, I hope this strategy pays off for him:

But of course the ever-present, almost blinding light of our super wall projecting clock behemoth will shine insistent on their efforts as they plunge towards comic inevitability:

We'll keep you updated.
