The Falmouth 24hr Comic

10.30 am Tuesday 24th of November - 10.30am Wednesday 25th of November

The Poly, Falmouth

On the 24th of November a group of artists, illustrators and photographers will be challenging their creativity and stamina. With no preparation and very little sleep, they will have just 24 hours to complete 24 pages of illustrated narrative inspired by a local story

The event is open to the public to see the artists working and view the pages as they are completed. There is even opportunity to challenge yourself to create a timed comic.

The Falmouth 24hr Comic is funded by FEAST, a new programme to make great art happen in Cornish villages and towns. Their main focus is to bring communites together to take part in creative activities.

The results will be displayed at The Poly until Saturday the 28th on November.

There will be a follow up exhibition at The Soup Galley, Truro in December.

7.30pm - 15 hours to go!

It's incredible to think that everyone has been drawing for seven hours now. Ask yourself this, what have I been doing for the last seven hours? I bet you haven't produced 6 pages of a comic have you?

We've also had some people come and try their hand at narrative illustration, as we've been calling it when the word 'comic' doesn't really apply

The drawing above was done by The Poly's own gallery manager Alison. It illustrates a story one of The Poly's visitors had just told her. I'm going to leave it open to you unitepretation for now....

This is Christine, she was a bit scared to draw a comic at first but luckily she enjoyed contributing the beuty below:

She came with Ben who left us with this comic about an ant and a rock. There's probably a morel in there somewhere.

And, since a picture paints a thousand words and I'm quite tired I'm just going to leave you with a pic dump....

Jake Rowlinson, up close and personal

Our logo designer Martin Coote, whose been putting some solid comic hours in.

All the artists and a good peek at out lovely classroom arrangment. Also, check out the work on the walls. Yes!

I didn't take this, Tom did. Apparently someone brouhgt their own caffeitiaire (I got really lost spelling that word... shall we call it coffee plungey thing for now?) That's dedication.
